This is an amazing art space! Come enjoy it and paint some flowers with me.

Ages/Skill Level: Adults of all skill levels
Cost:$150.00 - Participants are expected to bring these supplies.
We will create luminous watercolors of flowers. We'll find a way to be loose, but also convey the essence of the flowers we're painting. Technically, we will go over how to put together a good composition, incorporate the background with the foreground, how to "preserve whites", and how to manage soft and hard edges. Each person's creativity will be part of the process.

Overlays of plants, paper cutouts, and transparencies on solar-activated dye
The summer was spent Solar Painting -- working with sun-activated dyes.

Flowers, leaves, transparencies, negatives, and paper cut into intricate shapes were all used to create layers of shapes and tonalities. They were placed on top of paper that had been painted with solar activated dye. All of it was put in the sun to develop into fascinating images.
Every piece was surprising when the layers were peeled off, revealing the results of Central New York's combination of unpredictable sun, clouds, haze, wind, and shadows of trees.
The more I worked with it, the more possibilities seem to crop up, including holiday cards.
